SECTION C: COMPREHENSION: (10 MARKS)

Read this text and answer the questions which follow it. As far as possible, use your own words.

The story of two friends.
Mbi and Anye were two students in the same school but with diffierent status and ambitions. From primary to secondary school, both of them were remarkable students. They scored good marks at school and were very respectful. In fact, they were perfect students.
Mbi's father was a trader while Anye's father was a farmer. As Mbi's father’s business flourished, his family became richer and richer. On the other hand, Anye’s family continued to work harder on the farm in order to clothe and send their children to school. Life became more difficult for them because their crops did not produce abundantly and sales were not good at all.
One morning, Mbi called his friend Anye and expressed his intention to stop school. “My father is rich! I am an only child! Why should l continue to border about school?” He burst out. “Eh! My friend! You are making a ten-Hale mistake. Your father's wealth is not yours.
Even if it were, would you not be happy to create your own wealth? What if your dad did not exist?" “If I were you, l would not abandon school. Rather, I would use the knowledge acquired from school to make my father’s business flourish even more”. Anye told him.
After this discussion, Mbi did not change his mind. He stopped going to school, joint his father and started trading with him. Soon he became rich. Afier work, he spent all his money drinking alcohol and going to night clubs with his other “friends”. He smoked at least a packet of cigarettes a day and he became very popular too. “Life is very sweet!” he would say.
In the meantime, Anye continue going to school until he obtained a doctorate degree in Mathematics and became a University lecturer. His parents were the happiest people in the world because of their son’s achievements. The whole family moved from rags to riches. On the other hand, Mbi is suffering from cancer and his father’s business has gone bankrupt. All his friend’s have abandoned him.

2. You live in Yaounde and your freind Alice lives in Bamba. She does not know anything about the computer. Your teachers always assign you to go to the internet and carry out research. You type and send your mails alone and this has connected you to people around the world. Write a letter to her telling her about:
• the advantages of being computer literate,
• some of the things you have achieved being computer literate,
• the negative side of the computer.
